Barstow Veterans Home resident Wayne Davis recently celebrated a remarkable milestone — his 100th birthday. Davis, who has called the Veterans Home his residence for the past seven years, was honored with a celebration surrounded by family, friends, and community members.
The event drew Davis’s son, Dan, along with distinguished guests, fellow residents, staff, and supporters from near and far. A highlight of the day was the overwhelming response to Davis’s birthday wish for 100 cards — a wish that was far exceeded as more than 1,200 cards poured in from Barstow High School students, local elementary schools, Fort Irwin students, and well-wishers across the nation.
The celebration served as a testament to Davis’s life, his service, and the love and respect he continues to inspire.
