MORENO VALLEY, CA — October 8, 2025 — Ten years ago, Options For Youth (OFY) – San Bernardino’s Moreno Valley Center opened its doors with one mission: to meet students where they are and help them build brighter futures. Ten years later, that same mission continues to change lives.
On October 8, that mission came full circle as the center celebrated its 10-year anniversary with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony alongside the Moreno Valley Chamber of Commerce. The event marked a decade of growth, community partnership, and life-changing impact for more than 2,000 students who have walked through its doors.
The celebration brought together students, alumni, staff, and community leaders to reflect on OFY’s legacy of service and commitment to personalized education. Guests reflected on the students whose lives have been transformed through personalized learning, dedicated staff, and strong community support.
Community leaders joined in recognizing OFY’s achievements, presenting Certificates of Recognition from the offices of Senator Cervantes, Riverside County Supervisor Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, the City of Moreno Valley, and the Moreno Valley Chamber of Commerce—each commending OFY’s ongoing dedication to education and community partnership.
Principal Richard Aguilar shared heartfelt remarks, reflecting on the lives transformed through the program:
“In the last decade, we’ve served more than 2,000 students and proudly graduated over 250 who have gone on to college, careers, and bright futures. Each represents hard work, resilience, and the belief that with the right support, anything is possible. Their success stories reflect the dedication of our teachers, staff, and families who trust us with their children’s education.”
The event celebrated what’s possible when education and community work hand in hand. Student Council members, led by Center Coordinator Nuvia Castaneda and teacher Hope Boyer, took charge of the day’s details–decorating the venue, greeting guests, and giving guided tours of the school. Their enthusiasm and leadership reflected the confidence and pride OFY seeks to build in every student.
John Menke, Chair of the Moreno Valley Chamber of Commerce, commended the center’s impact:
“The Chamber is proud to honor this wonderful celebration of 10 years of Options For Youth Charter Schools here in Moreno Valley.”
The celebration concluded with the official ribbon cutting—Superintendent Ileana Kiriakos, Assistant Superintendent of Instruction Charles Pak, and Principal Richard Aguilar joined community partners in marking a decade of student achievement and opportunity.
Since opening its doors, the OFY Moreno Valley Center has helped hundreds of students earn their high school diplomas through individualized learning, small-group instruction, and one-on-one support. The center continues to empower students to reach their goals—proving that with compassion, commitment, and care, every student can succeed.
