Obituary: Pearline LeGrande, Retired Register Nurse and Community Advocate

Pearline “Pearl” LeGrande, native of Louisiana retired Registered Nurse and community advocate lived in the city of San Bernardino for over 75 years passed away on June 10, 2025, at St. Bernadine’s hospital at the age of 92.  She graduated from San Bernardino High School, earned a nursing degree, was a member of Temple Missionary Baptist Church, served as a Democratic Party delegate, and was a community advocate and role model. She worked as a psychiatric technician at Patton State Hospital and advanced to Registered Nurse retiring from both Community Hospital and Patton State Hospital.

Preceded in death husband George LeGrande.  Mrs. LeGrande was the youngest child of parents George Parker Dawson and Irene Dawson who preceded her in death along with her siblings Charlie Dawson, Freddy Dawson Sr., Emma Redden, Mary Reed, Mamie Davis, Alberta Carter, Irene Brooks, and Willie Mae Anthony.

She leaves behind her son Ronald Davis, and caregivers great niece Rev. Bronica Martindale, great, great niece Bonique Martindale, great, great nephew JhuMaani Chess and along with nieces Edna Noble, Roberta Shumpert, Delores Connors, Marilyn Reed, nieces in-love Zonita Redden, Dororthy Wells; nephews Harry Dawson, Tyrone Dawson, Charlie Redden, Dennis Redden, Charles Reed, Walter Reed, Andy Brown, Timothy Brooks, great nieces Daphne Roach, Debra Hardrick, Twillea Evans-Carthen, Sherron Reed- Hall, Shaton Reed, Trebia Washington-Walker, Harlonda Judice, Stephanie Brooks, Tammy Redden, Michelle Redden, Cosette Reed-Johnson, LaTrice Reed, Celeste Reed-Nix, Charlene Reed, Desire Jahn, Sherri Reed, Corrine Dawson, Trina Dawson, great nephews Kevin Carter, Kerry Carter, Jerry Carter, Jr. Michael Harris, Mark Evans, Remel Diggs, Willie Love Jr., Earl Love, Jason Stevenson, Roger Dawson, Tadashi Davis, Andre Hampton, Walter Reed Jr. and other family members and friends.

Services will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, 10:00 a.m. family and friends gathering followed by service at 11:00 a.m. at Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 1583 West Union Street, San Bernardino, CA.
