San Bernardino City Unified School District Appoints John Guttierez as District Police Chief

SAN BERNARDINO, CA — The San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD) is proud to announce the appointment of John Guttierez as its new District Police Chief. In honor of this milestone, the district will host a formal reception welcoming Chief Guttierez and celebrating his dedication to student safety and community service.

Chief Guttierez steps into his new role at a critical time when school safety and community trust remain top priorities for districts across the nation. His appointment signals SBCUSD’s continued commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for students, staff, and families throughout the district.

The San Bernardino City Unified School District cordially invites community members, staff, and stakeholders to join in welcoming Chief Guttierez at a special reception in his honor. The event will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Board of Education’s Dr. Margaret Hill Community Room, located at 777 North F Street, San Bernardino, CA 92410.

The reception will serve as an opportunity for the community to meet Chief Guttierez, hear his vision for district safety, and celebrate his leadership as he begins this new chapter of service.
