SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY—- As 2025 draws to a close, San Bernardino County reflects on a year of significant progress in delivering innovative, efficient public services that enhance residents’ quality of life across California’s largest geographic county.
The impacts of the Christmas storm and recovery efforts will extend into 2026 and were therefore not included in the county’s review of 2025.
Leading the nation for the fourth consecutive year, the county in 2025 earned a record 257 Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties, recognizing excellence in areas such as public health, safety, workforce development and community engagement.
“Everything we accomplished in 2025 reflects the dedication of our county employees and our shared commitment to serving residents,” said Board of Supervisors Chairman and Third District Supervisor Dawn Rowe. “From public safety and health to transparency and recreation, our teams delivered measurable results that improve lives countywide.”
Key accomplishments in 2025 included:
- Removing nearly 500 tons of illegal trash and debris through San Bernardino County Code Enforcement, enhancing neighborhood safety and appearance.
- Delivering more than 1 million nutritious meals to older adults through the California Older Adult Nutrition Program, supporting senior wellness and independence.
- Helping 92 foster children find permanent families, expanding mental health support for adolescents, improving emergency patient care protocols, and educating High Desert students about aviation careers through homeschool field trips.
- Responding to major storms in Highland and Oak Glen.
- Extending park hours to increase recreational access and welcoming more than 142,000 vehicles to regional parks and approximately 180,000 visitors to the Big Bear Alpine Zoo.
- Engaging more than 33,000 participants in the County Library’s Summer Reading Program.
- Expanding early voting locations, hosting open houses for public input on planning processes and honoring Bloomington veterans.
- Uniting business, government and community leaders at the State of the County to build collaboration and shape the region’s future.
- Assisting 2,645 residents in securing employment through the Workforce Development Department.
- Breaking ground on a new state-of-the-art animal shelter in Bloomington.
These accomplishments underscore San Bernardino County’s continued progress toward achieving the Countywide Vision and position the county for a successful 2026.
