“Chamber Music: Up Close and Personal” will debut the first of four new chamber ensembles

SAN BERNARDINO, CA— The San Bernardino Symphony will present the inaugural concert of the first of its brand-new ensemble groups, the San Bernardino Symphony Woodwinds Ensemble, on Friday, May 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the historic San Bernardino Valley College Auditorium.

“Having our own ensembles made up of the principal players our audience members have enjoyed for so many years is something I have long desired for the San Bernardino Symphony,” explained Music Director and Conductor Anthony Parnther. “I cannot wait to bring this first of many planned ensemble concerts to our region and am particularly excited to begin with our outstanding wind section!”

The concert will feature flutist Patricia Cloud, bassoonist Alex Rosales Garcia, French horn player Kristin Morrison, oboist Marilyn Schram, and clarinetist Margaret Worsley, accompanied by pianist Mitsuko Morikawa.

Added Parnther, “This program focuses on the geographical diversity of the USA, Mexico, Brazil, Cuba, and France emphasizing modern takes on traditional dance forms while playing on the contrast between the mountain scenery of the Roaring Fork Quintet and the metropolitan “Belle Epoque” sounds of the evocative Medaglia and the neoclassical Poulenc. There is movement found in every piece: from the physical flow of water in Ewazen’s exhilarating rapids to the rhythmic ‘flow’ of the South American dances. I truly believe our audience will love this exciting musical adventure.”

Same day and single purchase concert tickets are available at $20-$100 per seat. and may be obtained online at www.sanbernardinosymphony.org or by phone at (909) 381-5388 Monday through Friday. Students, when accompanied by an adult, are always $15.
