SAN BERNARDINO, CA — A mother is leaning on the support of her community as she prepares to lay her son, Usif Jackson, to rest following his unexpected passing in a tragic incident. Lucretia L. Dowdy shared the heartbreaking news through social media, describing Jackson as her “everything” and his death as the most devastating experience of her life.
Dowdy explained that asking for assistance has never come easily to her. Having spent much of her life supporting and helping others, she initially struggled with the thought of creating a fundraiser. However, after receiving an overwhelming number of prayers, calls, messages and offers of support, she decided to accept the kindness being extended to her family.
“Losing him has been the most devastating experience of my life,” Dowdy wrote. “So many people have reached out asking how they can help during this difficult time.”
The family is accepting contributions to assist with funeral and memorial expenses. Dowdy emphasized that donations of any amount would be sincerely appreciated as the family navigates the unimaginable loss.

Jackson’s homegoing service will take place on Tuesday, July 14, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1356 N. Mount Vernon Avenue in San Bernardino, California. A repast will be held immediately following the service at 624 W. Fourth Street in Downtown San Bernardino.
Dowdy expressed gratitude for every prayer, donation, kind word and act of love shown to her son and family during this difficult time. “Please continue to keep our family in your prayers as we navigate this unimaginable loss,” she wrote.
