Nationwide — Dating My Past, a heartfelt romantic film exploring self-discovery, has been officially selected to be showcased at the prestigious 20th Annual International Black Film Festival (IBFF), taking place on the campus of Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.

The film will be featured at the Johnson Theater (R. Milton and Denice Johnson Center) on October 4, 2025, at 6 pm, as part of the festival’s mission to highlight authentic voices, diverse stories, and culturally rich narratives. This selection marks a significant milestone in the journey of Dating My Past.

“Having Dating My Past showcased at the historic IBFF is a dream realized,” said Aaron Jordan Jr., Executive Producer. “Bringing the words of my book to life on screen has been a journey fueled by passion and purpose. I’m thrilled to share this story on such a meaningful platform with an audience that values authentic storytelling.”

The 20th Annual IBFF, scheduled for October 1–5, 2025, continues its legacy of amplifying filmmakers and stories that reflect the depth, complexity, and richness of Black experiences. The festival draws together filmmakers, industry professionals, scholars, and audiences from across the country, creating an ideal stage for Dating My Past to connect with viewers. “We are thrilled to showcase Dating My Past at this year’s International Black Film Festival. It is a powerful reflection of storytelling that resonates with truth, heart, and artistry, and we are honored to provide a platform for its film festival debut,” said IBFF Founder Hazel Joyner Smith.

Inspired by Aaron Jordan Jr.’s powerful book, “The Power Within A Woman’s Worth: From Both Sexes,” Dating My Past takes audiences on an emotional journey through relationships, self-discovery, and healing. The film highlights the challenges and triumphs of confronting the past to embrace the future, exploring universal themes of love, resilience, and personal transformation.

Attendees at IBFF will experience a narrative that entertains, inspires, and sparks meaningful dialogue about the complexities of modern relationships and dating. The film’s message of empowerment and growth resonates deeply, offering both reflection and hope.
