SAN BERNARDINO, CA— It was a splash-tastic day in Bloomington as families gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the brand-new Ayala Park Splash Pad! The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official unveiling of this exciting $1.4 million project—bringing a fun, free, and safe water play space to the heart of the community.
Designed with both accessibility and sustainability in mind, the 1,257-square-foot splash pad includes 23 interactive spray features, two thrilling slides, tipping water buckets, and a convenient outdoor shower. The splash pad is also equipped with sustainable infrastructure, including a 4,000-gallon recycled water system, UV sanitation, high-efficiency filtration, and smart timers to reduce water waste.
“This is a big win for Bloomington,” said Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. “Our families now have a vibrant space where kids can stay cool, have fun, and make memories—without ever having to leave the neighborhood. It’s projects like this that improve quality of life and show what’s possible when we invest in our communities.”
The celebration was filled with smiling faces, laughter, and the sound of splashing water as residents enjoyed the new amenity. The splash pad is expected to serve hundreds of local children throughout the summer months, becoming a cornerstone of community connection and outdoor recreation.
The Ayala Park Splash Pad is part of broader efforts to revitalize local parks and provide equitable access to public amenities that support healthy, active lifestyles.
