Stepping Back Into the Roaring 20’s Celebrates Mental Health Awareness Month with Elegance, Entertainment, and Empowerment

SAN BERNARDINO, CA— In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, The African American Health Coalition, operated by Linda Hart, alongside LUE Productions Community Umbrella Services, operated by LuCretia Dowdy, proudly presented “Stepping Back Into the Roaring 20’s,” a memorable fundraiser and fashion show dinner dedicated to raising awareness surrounding mental health within the African American community.

The elegant evening showcased 13 beautiful Queens from all walks of life who graced the runway with confidence, style, and purpose. Their participation highlighted the beauty, resilience, and strength of women in the community.

Special guest speaker Dr. Gwen Dowdy-Rodgers delivered an unforgettable and inspiring message that resonated deeply with attendees. Event hosts Dr. Stone, CEO and Founder of Young Visionaries Youth Leadership Academy, alongside Dee Goins, President for the Pomona Chapter of The Southern California Black Chamber of Commerce kept the audience engaged and energized throughout the evening. Remarks were also given by Rich Wallace, CEO and Founder of the Southern California Black Chamber of Commerce.

As part of the celebration, several outstanding women were honored for their dedication and contributions to mental health services and advocacy:

  • Dr. Amanda Vann-Orellana, Clinical Coordinator for Young Visionaries Youth Leadership Academy and Clinical Director for Beauregard Family Therapy
  • Wandalyn Lane, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
  • Dr. Clay, CEO and Founder of Clay Counseling Services

The evening featured powerful entertainment from start to finish. Lue Dowdy presented a moving mental health skit titled “MY MENTAL! YOUR MENTAL! OUR MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS,” portraying many of the challenges African American women ages 50 and over face daily.

Additional performances included:

  • A captivating Josephine Baker tribute by Deeveavata Bourne
  • A sultry jazz tribute performance by Lue Dowdy
  • Comedy entertainment from Regina Ivery that had the audience roaring with laughter
  • A soulful solo performance by Maurice Howard

The organizations extend heartfelt appreciation to all volunteers, sponsors, attendees, supporters, and the phenomenal models who made the evening a tremendous success.
